Robert Culhane's Chest of Drawers
This chest of drawers was made by
Robert Culhane (1843-1924) circa 1900 or earlier. His daughter
Lucy Theresa Culhane (1891-1968) always remembered it being in
the house when she was young. The family lived in port Huron &
Pinckney Michigan around this time, before that they lived in
Ontario
Robert was a "Cooper"
by trade; he built round wagon wheels and watertight barrels.
But it seems like a square chest of drawers was not attainable
for him.
The chest is made from oak &
walnut, the top is made from what looks like a folding leaf from
an old table.
