1848. Edwin Sherman was born in Scipio Twp Seneca Co OH.

1853. Lucy M Rule was born in OH.

1861/5. Edwin's grave in 1988 has a Grand Army Of The Republic plaque, which would indicate he served in the Civil War. However, no OH or MI records of his service was found.

1870. Sep 24th, Edwin Sherman and Lucy Ann Rule were married in Seneca Co OH.

1870/73. They removed to MI from OH with his parents. Lived on his parents farm.

1880. Census of Bingham Twp Clinton Co MI indicated: Edwin Sherman age 32, farmer, born in OH, both parents born in NY; Lucy Sherman age 27, wife, keeping house, born in OH, father born in NY & mother in OH, cannot write English; Sidney Sherman age 6, son, at school, born in MI; Laura Sherman age 4, daughter, at home, born in MI. Edwin's parents were shown in a separate dwelling.

1896. Edwin Sherman owns 119.75 acres with a house in Bingham Twp Clinton Co MI (N 119.75 acres of W 1/2 of E 1/2 Sec 33). This was his father's farm in 1873. His mother Margaret Sherman owns 40 acres without house across the road (N 1/2 of N 1/2 of SW 1/4 Sec 33).

1900. Census of Bingham Twp Clinton Co MI indicated: Sidney Sherman age 26, farmer, owns farm with mortgage, born Oct 1873 in MI, parents born in OH; Jennie A Sherman age 22, wife, born Nov 1877 in OH, both parents born in OH; Edwin Sherman age 51, father, born Aug 1848 in OH, father born in MA and mother in NY; Lucy Sherman, age 46, mother, born May 1853 in OH, father born in NY and mother in OH; Bertha Sherman age 18, sister, single, born Feb 1882 in MI; Sidney and Jennie married less than 1 year and had no children; Edwin and Lucy married 29 years and Lucy had 4 children with 2 alive; all can read, write & speak English; farm schedule.

1910. Census: Edwin Sherman's location is unknown, he was not found in Bingham Twp or StJohns City. He is not in MI. See Lucy Sherman in the next paragraph.

1910. Census of Bingham Twp Clinton Co MI indicated: Albert E Smith age 32, farmer, rents farm, he and father born in NY and mother in Ireland; Berta Smith wife age 28, born in MI and both parents born in OH; and Lucy M Sherman, Albert's mother-in-law age 57, she and her mother born in OH and father in NY; Albert and Berta Smith married 5 years and had no children; Lucy M Sherman married 40 years and had 4 children, 2 alive, all could read, write & speak English; Farm schedule 1. This is probably the S part of Zephaniah's & Edwin's original farm.

1910. Census of Bingham Twp Clinton Co MI indicated: Sidney T Sherman age 36, farmer, owns farm free of debt; Jennie A Sherman wife age 32, her & parents born in OH; they were married 10 years, had one child with none alive; farm schedule 6.

1915. The farm which was owned by Edwin Sherman in 1896 is now own by: (1) The North 65.5 acres and a house is owned by S Sherman, and (2) the South 54 acres with the original house is owned by his wife Lucy Sherman.

1919. Lucy Sherman died. Buried in grave 6 lot 64 in S Bingham Cemetery.

1934. Jan 23rd, Edwin Sherman, age 85, farmer, widower, died at 405 Clinton St, St Johns MI of Toxicosis (treated for 5 years), purulent cystitis (treated for 3 weeks), and enlarged prostate. Buried in grave 7 lot 64 in S Bingham Cemetery (tombstone).

1988. The name on the barn on the North 65.5 acres of Edwin Sherman's is faint but still visible: "S. T. SHERMAN", his son Sidney Titus Sherman.

1. Sidney Titus Sherman (15)

1900. May 8th, at Olive in Clinton Co MI, Sidney Sherman, farmer, age 26 of StJohns born in St Johns, and Jennie A [Alice] Shumaker age 26 of Olive MI, were married by A Biukhorst, Congregational Minister. Witnesses were Mr & Mrs George Morton of Bingham. She was born Nov 24 1877 in Marshallville OH in Wayne Co: Her parents were Jacob Shumaker and Martha Wildie.
1946. Mr & Mrs Sydney Sherman of StJohns have been visiting their niece and nephew Mr & Mrs Francis Norton the past week. [A Morton was witness at Sidney's wedding so one could make a case that Norton/Morton are in fact the same family, probable on his wife's side].
1961. Sidney died, and buried in S Bingham Cemetery.
1962. Jennie died, and buried in S Bingham Cemetery.

          1. Unknown Sherman (16) born & died 1900/10.
      2. Laura Sherman (15) born 1875, died 1893 age 18, buried in S Bingham Cemetery.
      3. Bertha Sherman (15) (Smith) born 1882. Sep 28 1904 at Bingham Twp, Bertha Sherman age 22 of Bingham Twp born in Bingham Twp, and Albert Smith, shipping clerk, age 25 of St Joseph MI born in Nile NY, were married by R S McGregor Minister of the Gospel. Witnesses were Sidney and Jennie Sherman. His parents were George Smith and Ellen Howe. Albert died 1928. Bertha lived in St Johns. Bertha died May 28 1957 at age 75, Services were from Hoag Chapel and burial was in S Bingham Cemetery.
