Gertrude never married, and had no other close family relatives, except Ruth and Elizabeth Theisen (daughters of Fred Theisen). After Ruth and Elizabeth passed away, Ruth's children and Elizabeth's husband, Peter Schrier, made her a part of every holiday celebration. Peter Schrier was her caregiver until the day she died.
