Text of the Indenture that Alden Sherman
signed for the purchase of his landA memorial to be Registered pursuant to the Statue in such case made and provided of an indenture and bargain and sale made at Norwich bearing date the fourth day of the second month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one.
BY AND BETWEEN Lindley M Moore of the town of Gates, County of Monroe in the State of New York of one part and Alden Sherman of the Township of Norwich of Norwich County of Oxford District of London and Province of Upper Canada of the other part.
WHEREBY the said Lindley M Moore for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds lawful Money of said Province to him in hand paid and receipt thereof acknowledged.
THATH granted bargained sold aliened transferred conveyed and confirmed unto the said Alden Sherman his heirs and assigns forever all that parcel or tract of land, lying and being in said Township of Norwich being composed of the North equal half of Lot Number Two in the Third Concession of said Township, containing (unclear word) measurement one hundred acres.
Otherwise known and described as follows (that is to say) commencing at the Northeast Angle of said lot, (1) running South seventy eight degrees thirty minutes west twenty five chains fifty three links to the Western limits of said lot in front of said third concession, (2) then South eleven degrees thirty minutes East fifty nine chains fifty links, (3) then North seventy eight degrees thirty minutes East twenty five chains fifty three links to the eastern limits of said lot, (4) then North eleven degrees thirty minutes West thirty nine fifty links, to the place of beginning.
Together with all houses and out houses and waters thereon erected lying and being and all and singular the hereditaments and appurtenance there unto belonging and every part thereof and the reversions remainder and remainders rent issues and profits thereof and all estates right title interest claim property and demand whatsoever either at law or in equity of in and to the above described premises and every part there of.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above described premises and every part thereof unto the said Alden Sherman free and clear of all incumbences, judgements, mortgages and dower right, and all other lets whatsoever to the sole and proper use benefit and behoof of him the said Alden Sherman his heirs forever under the reservation limitations and conditions expressed in the original grant from the crown.
And the said indenture witnessed by Peter Lossing and David Wilson. Yeoman - both of the Township of Norwich above mentioned.
And this Memorial thereof is required to be registered by said Alden Sherman the granter herein named.
In witness whereof - he the said granter has set his hand and seal twenty second day of the second month the year as above written and sealed in the presence of Peter Lossing and David D Wilson.
