1861. Guilford F Sprague was a physician in Warsaw MO.

1862. July, Guilford Sprague enlisted in the Confederate Army at Jefferson City MO, as an assistant surgeon in the 1st MO Battalion, and promoted to rank of field surgeon in Mar 1863. Saw action at Coalcamp, Wilson Creek, Boonville, Elkhorn & Pea Ridge in MO and at Cane Hill & Black River in AK. Taken prisoner at Pea Ridge, and released back to his unit.

1868. Catherine was a witness to a wedding and Baptism in Port Huron MI.

1870. Census of Detroit MI indicated Catherine Culhane age 21, servant, in home of Marcus Stevens furniture dealer.

1872. Catherine was godmother to Catherine Durkin in Kenockee Twp MI.

1874. Catherine was witness at the marriage of her sister Margaret Culhane to Ben Walker in Detroit MI.

1879. Catherine was sponsor of Charles Manley Walker in Detroit MI.

1880. Catherine was not found in the Detroit Census.

1881. Catherine and her sister Bridget Culhane were milliners and lived with their married sister Margaret Culhane (Walker) in Detroit MI (DIR).

1881. Guilford moved to Cresent City FL. He opened a drug store and practiced medicine. He had previously practiced medicine in MO, KS & FL.

1882. Catherine a domestic lived at 121 Trumbull St in Detroit (DIR).

1883. Catherine a domestic lived at 320 Howard St in Detroit (DIR).

1884. Catherine a domestic lived at 131 Lafayette St in Detroit (DIR).

1885. December, Catherine moved to Cresent City FL.

1885/87. Guilford Sprague was the 1st worship master of Lake Lodge #72 and Knight Templar of the Free and Accepted Masons.

1886. Nov 24th, Catherine Culhane age 39 married Dr Guilford F Sprague age 67. Guilford was married previously to a women named Katie, who died and left one child.

1900. Census of Cresent City FL indicated: Guilford Sprague age 71, physician; Katie C Sprague age 47, no children, immigrated 1860; Nozin [unclear] C Sprague age 10.

1902. Catherine opened the Sprague House Hotel on Central Ave in Cresent City. This was a tourist hotel operated the year around, but later was only apartments for the winter trade.

1903/05. Guilford served as state legislator in Tallahassee FL. He was also the 1st mayor of Cresent City FL, and served for 20 years.

1909. Jun 13th, Guilford Sprague died at Cresent City FL. Buried in an unmarked grave in Palmetto Cemetery.

1909. Probably December, Catherine visited her brother Robert Culhane and family in Pinckney MI.

1929. Feb 19th, Catherine age 82, widow, died of hemiplegia and arteriosclerosis at Cresent City FL. Funeral at St John's Catholic Church and burial in St John's Cemetery in Cresent City.

1929. Feb 21st, Obituary. Mrs Katherine Sprague, widow of the late Dr G F Sprague, died at her home on Central avenue on Tuesday afternoon, after a long illness. Mrs Sprague, born in Toronto ON Jan 23 1847, when quite a small girl moved with her parents to Detroit MI, where she made her home until she moved to Cresent City in the year 1855. She was married to G F Sprague Nov 24 1885 and has made this her home from that time until her death last Tuesday afternoon. For years Dr and Mrs Sprague operated the Sprague House, which was known far and wide among the winter tourists During the past years Mrs Sprague had occupied the place as her home, only having apartments to let to winter visitors in which she was assisted by her niece Miss Cora Durkin. Mrs Sprague is one of the pioneer residents of the Fruitland Peninsula coming to Cresent City before the Atlantic Coast Line railway was built and when there was no other means of transportation than the boat between here and Palatka, until the year 1886, when the railway was built through this community. The funeral was conducted this morning from St Johns Catholic Church and interment was made in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs Sprague is the last of a large family of twenty-one, and is survived by one daughter, Mrs R R Kinard; one niece, Miss Cora Durkin; one nephew, Mr Henry Durkin, and several grandchildren, all of this city. The pallbearers were Messrs E L Mathis, Paul Smith, E I Lounds, C L Chamberlin, D C Waren and K Borson. The floral offerings were expressions of appreciation and esteem in which the many friends and admirers of the loveable character. The funeral was in charge of Mr Lloyd Moose, undertaker, of this city. (Cresent City FL newspaper)
