1895. May 23rd, born at Pinckney MI. parents page, Baptized Jun 2 1895 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Pinckney: Sponsors Edward & Catherine Cahill.

1900. Census of Pinckney indicated Josephine age 5 lived at home (p187/d33/f34).

1900/10. She remembers as a child the steam and smell of her dad's cooper shop. Also remembers her first job of running errands for a neighbor called "Grandma Kearny" at 5¢ a week, with an occasional tip: Saved enough to buy herself a pair of shoes for about $1.50.

1909. Jun 16th, awarded the Public School Diploma from Livingston Co MI. Note: This diploma will admit the holder to the freshman class of MI Agriculture College and to High Schools without further examination.

1910. Census of Pinckney indicated Josephine age 14 attended school and lived at home (p320/d128/f133).

1909/13. Attended Pinckney High School and obtained a high school diploma dated Jun 19 1913 (diploma; Pinckney Pathways Vol 2, by Milton E Charboneau, undated, p31).

1913/1928. Attended MI State Normal College at Ypsilanti MI, attended mostly summer sessions.

1914. Aug 11th, received a "Limited Certificate" and is licensed to teach elementary school in MI for three years, from the MI State Normal College at Ypsilanti MI.

1914. Spring. Taught at Elk Rapids MI. She taught the last part of the 1913/1914 school year as a replacement for a male teacher who fought in WW-I.

1914/17. Taught 4th grade in Ithaca MI.

1915. May 10th, awarded the Palmer Method of Business Writing Teachers Certificate for completion in Chicago IL of the Palmer Method of Muscular Movement Business Writing, signed by A N Palmer.

1915. Summer. Josephine attended College at Ypsilanti MI and the class booklet showed she had a "graded certification" (Summer School of MI State Normal College, Jun 28 through Aug 6 1915, Ypsilanti MI).

1917/18. Taught in the Geography Department in the elementary school in Alpena MI.

1918. Aug 2nd, awarded a diploma for completion of the "General Diploma Course" and is a graduate of the MI State Normal College in Ypsilanti MI.

1818. Aug 2nd, awarded a "Life Certificate" to teach in Michigan Schools by the MI State Normal College in Ypsilanti MI.

1918/20. Was a Critic Teacher for the County Normal (a State School) in the elementary school in Dowagiac MI. Taught elementary classes and had student teachers.

1920. Attended the University of Chicago Summer session and awarded a Certificate of Completion for the "Basic Economics Program" of the Industrial Relations Center, The University of Chicago in Chicago IL.

1920/23. Was Principal at the County Normal School in Dowagiac MI.

1923/27. Was Principal at the County Normal School in Lapeer MI. She bought her first car during this time, a Model-T Ford for $500.00.

1924. February, she lived in Dowagiac MI (father's obituary).

1926. June, she lived in Lapeer MI (mother's obituary).

1928. Mar 23rd. Awarded a BS Degree in Education from MI State Normal College in Ypsilanti MI.

1928/33. Was Principal at the County Normal School in Flint MI.

1929/32. Attended Summer sessions at the University of MI in Ann Arbor MI.

1932. Sep 10th, awarded a Master of Arts Degree from the Graduate School at the University of MI in Ann Arbor MI.

1933/37. Was Principal at the Martin Elementary School in Flint MI.

1934. Attended Summer session of the University of Mexico in Mexico City Mexico.

1935. Was an observer in Education classes at the University of California in Los Angeles CA during the Summer.

1937/56. Was Supervisor of the primary grades in all of the schools in Flint MI.

1939. Attended Columbia University in NY during the Summer.

1956/62. She was Principal at the Durant and Pierson Elementary Schools in Flint MI.

1962. She retired after 46 ½ years in the MI school system. Required retirement was age 65, but the board requested she stay 2 more years, and she retired at age 67.

1962/65. Taught and supervised student teachers in Flint Schools for three years at the Univ of MI in Flint, after she retired.

1977. She wrote the History of St Michael's Catholic Parish in Flint, lived in Flint MI.

1988. She moved to Oscoda MI and lived with her grand-niece Lucy Ann Sherman (Fazely) (x1843e1988), and family.

1989. February, Josephine at age 93 read the complete 1900 & 1910 Censuses of her home town of Pinckney MI, which were taken when she was 5 and 15 years old respectively. She remembered every person listed: About 140 families and 500 people listed in each census. She also read the 1910 Census of Putman Twp and remembered most of the people.

1990. February. A new room was built onto the back of Fazely's house for Josephine. It is a large sitting/bedroom with all handicapped plumbing fixtures. The end of the room is all glass and opens onto a screened sun porch. There is a full view of the wooded backyard from anywhere in the room or porch.

1993. Jan 19th, Josephine died in Oscoda MI; funeral at StMichael's Catholic Church in Flint MI; buried in her parent's lot, grave 8, South ½ of lot 32, Ward H, in MtHope Catholic Cemetery in Port Huron MI; she never married (obit, Oscoda Press 1/27/1993), (Photos: RC p14,27,33,41)
