1746. Elizabeth Claghorn was born in Chilmark MA, which is on Martha's Vineyard in Duke County. Her parents were Shubael Claghorn and Experience Hawes of Martha's Vineyard.

1766. Elihu Sherman Sr and Elizabeth Claghorn were married in Dartmouth MA.

1768. Elihu and Elizabeth Claghorn were living in Rochester MA Plymouth County.

1778. Elihu Sherman: Private in Capt Joseph Parker's company, in Col Ebonies Sproat's (or Sprout's) regt: entered service 9 January 1778, company stationed at Rhode Island for 3 months from 1 January 1778, roll certified at Rochester.

1780.Elihu Sherman: Private in Capt Nathaniel Hammond's company, 4th Plymouth company regt commanded by Lt Col White, enlisted 30 July 1780 discharged 8 August, service 9 days at Rhode Island in an alarm, 1780 roll certified at Rochester.

1791. Elihu and Elizabeth Claghorn were members of the Second Church of Rochester in Mattapoisett MA in Plymouth County, where Elihu was a deacon.

1791-98. Elihu and Elizabeth Claghorn moved to Williamstown MA in Berkshire County.

1798. Direct Tax Census for Berkshire MA two entries:
(1) Elihu Sherman occupant and reputed owner of dwelling house in Williamstown with 25 perches of land (1 perches = 1 square rod or 16 ½ square feet). Valuation of principle assessor $250, valuation as revised and equalized by the commissioners $207.50.
(2) Elihu Sherman occupant and reputed owner of 107 acres in Williamstown. Valuation by principle assessor including dwelling houses etc not exceeding one hundred dollars in value. Valuation as revised and equalized by the commissioners $2,300.

1799. Elihu Sherman joined the 1st Congregational Church in Williamstown. He was a deacon of the church. Name of wife shown as Elizabeth Claggin.

1810. Census of Williams Town/Twp Berkshire County MA indicated the Elihu Sherman family: A male and female over 45 years of age, a male and female 16-26 years of age.

1813. Elizabeth Claghorn (Sherman) died in Williamstown MA on 22 January. Buried in section C lot 890 in the West Cemetery on West Main Street in Williamstown MA, tombstone inscription reads" In Memory of Elizabeth Sherman wife of Elihu Sherman who died January 22nd 1813 in the 67th year of her age."

1817. Elihu Sherman Sr died in Williamstown MA on 1 April. Buried in section C lot 890 in the West Cemetery on West Main Street in Williamstown MA, tombstone inscription reads" In Memory of Elihu Sherman who died April 1st in his 73 year of his life."

2. Elizabeth Sherman (12), (twin) born 2 January 1774 in Rochester MA, baptized August 1775, died on 15 April 1776.
3. Jedidah Sherman (12), (twin) born 2 January 1774 in Rochester MA, baptized August 1775, married 10 April 1798 to Aaron Foote Jr, she died 1843 in Batavia OH Clermont County.
4. Melintah Sherman (12), born probably 1776 in Rochester MA, baptized May 5 1776, married February 1795 to Alvin Bishop.

6. James Sherman (12), born probably 1781 in Rochester MA, baptized 6 May 1781, announced intention of marriage on 8 February 1806 in Williamstown MA to Sophia Day who was born in 1781, James died 1823 in Rome NY in Onedia County, 8 children. Conflicting data shows married Martha Brown of Dartmouth where they settled. James graduated with A B degree from Williams College in Williamstown, studied law with Gen Kirkland at Rome NY, in which place he resided and practiced. He was an Agent for Governors Tompkins and Clinton.
7. Asa Sherman (12), probably born 1791 in Rochester MA, baptized in the Second Church of Rochester, in Mattapoisett MA, married 5 October 1814 (also shown as 8 January 1815) to Ann Crowfoot, her parents were Joseph Crowfoot and Sarah Williams, 5 children.
      8. Isaac Sherman (12), born after 1791 probably in Williamstown MA Berkshire County, married at Adams MA Berkshire County on 26 March 1808 to Francis B Wells, Isaac died in Verona NY Oneida County, 6 children.
9. Lydia Sherman (12), born 179x probably in Williamstown MA Berkshire County married Chester Hayden.
