William R Sherman

I William R Sherman of Township of Watertown in the County of Tuscola and State of Michigan being of sound mind and memory, do make, publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament, in manner following: viz:

First, I will and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid in full:

Second, I give, devise and bequeath to my wife, Mary A. Sherman the sum of Two Thousand and Two Hundred dollars to be paid to her out of my real estate, and to have and to hold forever. The above bequest to my said wife is made to her in lieu of dower, homestead rights and all other rights or interests that she may have in and to my real or personal property as my widow.

Third: I give, devise and bequeath to my son, Harvey Sherman the sum of Two Hundred dollars, to have and to hold forever.

Fourth: I give, devise and bequeath to my grand daughter, Hazel Perry the sum of Fifty dollars and the organ she now has, to have and to hold forever.

Fifth: I give, devise and bequeath to my grand sons, Jay Perry and Morris Perry, each fifty dollars, to have and to hold forever.

Sixth: I give, devise and bequeath all the residue and remainder of my real estate and personal property to my seven children, viz: Alonzo J Sherman, David Sherman, William Sherman, Harvey Sherman, Melissa Brown, Emma Peterson, and Ella Raymond to be equally devided between them, share and share alike, and to have and to hold forever.

I hereby appoint my Son, Alonzo J. Sherman of Fostoria of Tuscola County Michigan Executor of this my Last Will and Testament.

Lastly, I revoke all former wills by me at any time made.

In Witness Wherof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and thirteen.

1. Includes the house, NE 1/4 of NE 1/4 of Section 11, Watertown Township. Sold Jan 16, 1917 for $3,250.00 to Rodney D. Brown and wife Melissa A Brown (William' daughter).

2 NW 1/4 of NW 1/4 of Section 12, Watertown Township. Sold Oct 1916 for $3,250.00 to Mahlon D Butler (husband of William's son Alonzo's daughter).

(first wife Emeline & mother of his children, died 1901)
Harvey Sherman, son, age 51, Millington Michigan.
Hazel Perry, granddaughter, age 19, Detroit Michigan [by daughter Martha].
Jay Perry, grandson, age 21, Detroit Michigan [by daughter Martha].
Morris Perry, Grandson, age 17, Detroit Michigan [by daughter Martha].
Alonzo J Sherman, son, age 58, Fostoria Michigan.
David Sherman, son, age 49, Mayville Michigan.
Wm Sherman, son, age 53, Fostoria Michigan.
Melissa Brown, daughter, age 61, Mayville Michigan.
Emma Peterson, daughter, 44, Milwauke Wisconsin.
Ella Raymond, daughter, age 55, Elba Michigan (Lapeer County).

Note. Mary Ann was given a $10.00 a week allowance during pendency of settlement. In 1920 her attorney, from Flint, MI, petitioned the court for a larger sum and an early settlement because she was aged 72 and infirmed.
