1820. Census of Scipio Town/Township Cayuga County NY indicated Howland lived with his parents.
1823. Mar 3rd, Hulda Titus was born in NY, parents were Curtis Titus and Lucinda Wileman who were born in CT, and moved to OH in 1833.
1830. Census of Ledyard Town/Township Cayuga County NY indicated Howland lived with his parents. [Ledyard Town/Township was established from part of Scipio Town/Township: Their home was in the same location only the Town/Township name changed].
1840. Census of Ledyard Town/Township Cayuga County NY indicated Howland lived with his parents.
1842. After his father's death he visited his brother Zephaniah and sisters Minerva & Catherine in Seneca County OH, and he stayed in Seneca County.
1843. Mar 29th, Howland Sherman was married in Seneca County OH to Hulda Titus of Scipio Township OH; they lived near Scipio Siding OH in Seneca County.
1845. Apr 8th, Howland bought 60 acres in Pleasant Township Seneca County OH, N 60 acres of E 1/2 of SE 1/4 of Sec 36; sold this in 1864.
1850. US Census for Pleasant Township Seneca County OH indicated: Howland Sherman age 34, farmer, value of real estate $800, born in NY; Hulda Sherman age 26, born in NY; Eldridge Sherman age 6, born in OH; Francis Sherman age 4, born in OH; Feronia Sherman age 2, born in OH [record unclear].
1850. The OH Census adds the following information to the above US Census: Land, 40 acres improved & 20 acres unimproved; value of farm implements $60.00; 1 home; livestock Jun 1st 1850 was valued at $245.00 and included 3 milch cows, 2 working oxen, 4 other cattle, 3 swine; produce during the year ending Jun 1 1850 was 100 bushel of wheat, 75 bushel of indian corn, 15 bushels Irish potatoes, 278 pounds of butter, 6 tons of hay; value of homemade manufactures $10.00; value of animals slaughtered $40.00.
1852. Jun 10th, Howland bought an adjacent 20 acres W of the land bought in 1845, N 20 acres of E 1/3 of W 1/2 of SE 1/4 of Sec 36; sold this in 1864.
1858. Feb 1st, Howland bought 20 acres in Adams Township Seneca County OH, S 20 acres of W 1/2 of SW 1/4 of Sec 31; after Howland's death Hulda sold this to their son Francis in 1879.
1858. Feb 1st, Howland bought 28 acres in Scipio Township Seneca County OH, N 1/2 of NW 1/4 of NW 1/4 of Sec 6; after Howland's death Hulda sold this to their son Eldridge in 1879.
1860. Census of Pleasant Township Seneca County OH indicated: Howland Sherman age 44, born in NY, farmer, value of real estate $3,000 and personal property $1,173; Hulda Sherman age 36, born in NY; Eldridge Sherman age 16, farmer; Francis Sherman age 15, farmer; Fherona Sherman age 12; Elnora Sherman age 7; Lucinda Sherman age 2; Lucinda Peak age 68, value of real estate $600 and personal property $600.
1860. The OH Census of Pleasant Township Seneca County indicated: Holland [Howland] Sherman; 80 acres improved; 40 acres unimproved; cash value of farm $2,500; value of farm implements & machinery $100; 3 horses; 4 milch cows; no asses, mules or working oxen; 4 other cattle; 186 sheep; 1 swine; value of livestock $918; 160 bushels of wheat; 120 bushels of indian corn; 400 lbs of wool; 30 bushels of Irish potatoes; value of orchard produce $10; 208 lbs of butter; 85 lbs of cheese; 20 tons of hay; value of home made manufacture $5; value of animals slaughtered $60.
1860. Nov 28th, Howland bought an adjacent 20 acres W of the land bought in 1845/52, N 20 acres of middle 1/3 of W 1/2 of SE 1/4 of Sec 36; sold this in 1865.
1863. Howland Sherman sold his half of the farm in NY that he inherited from his father, to his brother Russell Sherman who lived on the farm then.
1864. Apr 4th, Howland bought land in Scipio Township Seneca County OH, two adjacent parcels: (1) 88.64 acres just N of his brother Zephaniah's farm, N 88.64 acres of SW 1/4 of Sec 6, and (2) 46.66 acres, S 46.66 acres of W 1/2 of NW 1/4 of Sec 6; after Howland's death Hulda sold these two parcels in 1879.
1864. Apr 7th, Howland sold the 60 acres bought in 1845 and 20 acres bought in 1852.
1865. May 9th, Howland sold the 20 acres bought in 1860.
1865. Jun 13th, Howland Sherman died of cancer, buried in Pleasant Ridge "Egbert" Cemetery: 5 1/2 miles NE of downtown Tiffin OH on State Route 101 (tombstone). Died Jul 16 1865. The Court House death and marriage records prior to 1867 were destroyed by fire. The Probate record for Howland was not found, however an administrator's appointment was shown in the newspaper.
1870. Hulda not found in Seneca County (Census).
1874. The Atlas indicated the following land (acreage estimated) was owned by H Sherman or Mrs H Sherman:
· Mrs H Sherman owned 20 acres without buildings in Adams Township, S 20 acres of W 1/2 of the SW 1/4 of Sec 31.
· H Sherman owned another 28 acres without buildings in Scipio Township, N 30 acres of the W 1/2 of the NW 1/4 of Sec 6.
· H Sherman owned 136 acres in Scipio Township: (1) 89 acres with buildings, N 89 acres of SW 1/4 of Sec 6), and (2) the adjacent 47 acres without buildings, S 47 acres of W 1/2 of NW 1/4 of Sec 6.1879. Apr 3rd, Hulda Sherman sold the 20 acres bought in 1858 to her son Francis Sherman.
1879. Apr 3rd, Hulda Sherman sold the 28 acres bought in 1865 to her son Eldridge.
1879. Apr 3rd, Hulda sold the two parcels (about 88 & 46 acres) of land in bought in 1864. The 88 acres was sold to Hulda's daughter Pherona and her husband Henry Smith. The 46 acres was sold to David Smith, believed to be Henry Smith's father.
1880. Census of Clinton Township Seneca County OH indicated Hulda Sherman age 55 and her daughter Lucinda Sherman age 22 were living in the dwelling of her son Eldridge as a separate family unit.
1900. Census of Adams Township Seneca County OH indicated: Hulda Sherman age 77, born Mar 1822 in NY, both parents born in CT, 5 children 5 alive; living with son Francis Sherman and family.
1901. Dec 22nd, Hulda Titus (Sherman) died. Buried in Pleasant Ridge "Egbert" Cemetery.

Married 1st a Mr C D Bennett and lived in Chicago IL. Married 2nd Mr Cox and lived in Detroit MI. Lucinda died Apr 14 1937 and was buried beside her 2nd husband in Detroit. They had no children, but raised their niece Edna Zula Sherman from childhood.
